The Level 4 apprenticeship framework consists of both the 'Technical Certificate' to provide growth in knowledge and understanding and the NVQ to establish competency in aplying this knowledge. 

The Level 4 Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management is designed to develop aspiring middle managers and first line managers. Learners build core skills in middle management and can access a wide range of optional study areas to help them gain specific management skills to suit their needs.

The ILM Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Management is ideal for managers moving into a middle management position, who still retain responsibility for operational processes but are more removed from day to day line management duties. The qualification develops the knowledge and skills required to take on higher level responsibilities such as planning and implementing change. This qualification forms part of the ILM Level 4 Management Apprenticeship.

What to expect

Learners take four mandatory units in each element of this qualification. The first unit looks at personal and professional development, helping the learner to identify their development needs and plan how to fulfil them. The second unit delves into the theory of leadership and also provides practical application of how to inspire and engage individuals. In the third unit learners develop and implement an operation plan. And the final mandatory unit helps the learner to develop their working relationships with key stakeholders.

The support we provide

The delivery of the NVQ and Technical Certificate elements are combined via 1-2-1 sessions with the assessor. The assessor will support them with the “knowledge” elements, where learners will be required to look at various management and business models.
There will be occasions where the assessor will request to observe learners at their place of work and go through their portfolio, to evidence their competence and to meet the requirements of the standards within the qualification.
